Booking mixup but great place to stay

This is a great place to stay. Unfortunately though there was a problem with our booking - we booked a budget cabin but the park had us booked in for a bunkhouse with external shared bathroom - not good for an “older “ couple. We were advised there were no budget cabins available! The very nice young men at Reception found us a beautiful Studio Cabin and we were required to pay an additional amount. This was disappointing as we’d contacted Hotels.com the night before and received a confirmation that the problem had been fixed. Have been with Hotels.com for many years and this is the first communication breakdown. We now know to check the link sent by the provider in their confirmation email - we just thought it was a confirmation and would have been alerted to the mistake had we opened the link!

The “bunkhouse” area is made up of converted containers. Rooms were good size, 2 of us slept comfortably in the large single bed. Short walk to en-suites. But if it was raining ... you’d need your brolly. The path isn’t covered. Also think that a window/skylight (some form of natural light) is needed and/or an indirect, soft night light. Rooms are black as pitch without a light switched on! If there was an evacuation you wouldn’t be able to see to exit safely.

A good cabin on a well located site.

St Helens is a great location. The Big 4!is pretty close to town and the cabin was in clean, in generally good condition and well equipped. The site is pretty cramped though, the awning of the van parked next to our cabin was barely 60cm away and the rear of their car even closer.

The property was smaller than expected and people can look into the toilet windows. Felt a bit exposed so used a piece of cloth to cover up the window when showering. The location was not bad and they give out flyers for a free drink if you eat at The Wharf. The food there was great and it was one of the highlights there.
