Memorable stay

Amazing place, location and architecture. Room wasn’t big enough but good outlook on the river. Bathroom was a big disappointment. Rather grubby in places and found wood louse and millipede in there. Food was excellent Service was very good on the whole. Room was noisy on one occasion after 12pm as they dragged tables and chairs after a wedding reception.

I liked the unique old world resort experience. Having the run of the estate after the last day tourists have gone was fantastic. Food was excellent and staff could not have been more helpful.

Little bit of luxury...

The Castle hotel is absolutely stunning! The suite that we stayed in was huge, and had everything that we needed. The food in the Brasserie was delicious, and the service throughout the hotel was superb!

PortMeirion is the most unique place and I’d always wanted to stay in the village. We booked into the hotel but, be warned, you might not end up with a room in the actual hotel as we found out. When we got there we found out we’d be staying in a ‘village room’ which was a five minute walk from the hotel. We didn’t mind this at all - all part of the excitement and the quirkyness of PortMeirion. However, there were guests complaining about finding themselves in this situation at reception. So if you’re not up for a surprise check where you’ll be staying beforehand. The both restaurants in the village (the hotel and castle) were excellent and reasonable. The garden and coast walks are lovely. There’s not a shop (for supplies) in the village so stock up on anything you need before getting there. All of the staff were very helpful and really friendly. There is something really special about being in the village, in the evening, after it’s closed off to the public. The room (Cliff House) was fine. Views amazing. And the village itself is just beautiful.

Castell Deudraeth - great weekend

We had a terrific stay at Castell Deudraeth. The staff were all excellent and the suite (room 9) very spacious. The bar area is comfortable with an open fire and bi leather suites - and then the food in the brasserie very good. We were going to eat in the hotel one night but stayed in the Castell for both evening meals. The breakfasts were outstanding too - no need for lunch! It is a 10 minute walk down a path into the village but being just on the outskirts is easier to get to initially (and park) than perhaps some of the apartments or Hotel Portmeirion itself. Very good stay.
