BI Spring House

Really nice iconic place with friendly staff, but the room was very small with a “small queen”. When we asked to upgrade to a larger room or a bigger bed, they wanted to charge us the additional price despite the fact the rooms were available. Most hotels will upgrade if they can without an additional charge, which goes a long way in the happy customer space.

We enjoyed our stay very much. Beautiful old hotel in a stunning location. One negative, bed was not comfortable.

Great but can be even better

We have made this trip to BI and the Spring House an annual tradition for our anniversary. That said, for two years in a row, there has been a wedding at the hotel that essentially closes off all services to us the other paying customers. It would seem to me that you can still have a bar open for the rest of us. You can still offer food for breakfast/brunch even if it is the week after Labor Day. Lovely place. Just give us the full experience no matter what.

The driveway from and to the Inn at Spring House, where we stayed due to Spring House did not have a record of our reservation, is so unkempt with rocks of all sizes mixed with dirt caused me to fall and received devastating foot injury with 10 stitches! The management never inquired about my injury or showed any concern!

This is an historic property and so one must keep this in mind. There are no elevators, no pool or mini fridges in the room. However, there is a charm and certainly there is a view! My favorite part of my stay was sitting on an Adirondack chair and sipping a cool refreshment whilst watching the boats and clouds sail by. The beds were comfortable and the bathrooms newly renovated (they could use more hooks). I do wish that the staffing was a bit more assistive. The housekeeping staff were friendly and helpful but the lack of help getting my luggage up and down the stairs was disappointing and difficult for this senior citizen. Also, when I found that I had misjudged the timing of a mini adventure the morning of my check-out, and called the hotel to inform them that I was running late and, after profusely apologizing, asking for a delayed check-out (I needed an extra 30 minutes -I was already packed and ready to leave), I was met with a very rigid and unfriendly reminder that check-out was 11 am. I knew that! That was why I was calling AND preemptively apologizing (I was guilty of misjudging the time my last minute errand would take). I also know that housekeeping need to arrange the cleaning of rooms etc. But seriously, for the amount of money I paid for these rooms (I was also treating my son and DIL to a few days) you would think they would be both more cordial and more accommodating.
