Expensive Exhaustion.. not worth it at all.

This was booked for quick weekend trip to see family in the area. We chose this over an AirBnB for the ambiance of an adult couples weekend that was needed. The employees are nice but the great rating for the hotel was not what we experienced. The photos of the room were misleading about the size of the room. We arrived and were given keys to a corner front room. The diagonal door (which did not seal at the top) led to a room so small that 2 people could not walk around the perimeter of the bed. Opening the door to leave required a careful placement of the body and purse to get the door open. We attempted to have our family come up to the room to see the hotel and we could not fit 2 adults in the room with us. Ridiculous for the price.Thinking of redeeming the weekend with a bubble bath, it was disappointing to find that the tub was so shallow that using the tub was ridiculous. I am 5' tall and petite and the tub held water that would not submerge any part of that. So a shower it is after giving up the bath attempt. To find that there is almost NO water pressure to remove shampoo even though they did have quality toiletries in the room. Add to our stay was the joy of partygoers sharing our bedroom wall and also not having a door that seals. The building is vintage and the fancy furnishings are just a slight higher quality than Motel 6. The free Wi-Fi is spotty, and parking minimal. The flat screen Tv had very questionable picture quality. EXPENSIVE EXHAUSTION

A definite place to stay

The hotel is old and charming. It was clean and the staff was very friendly and helpful in every way. It felt like we were stepping back in time to when the hotel was established and thriving so many years ago. It has been well maintained while attempting to keep original look and feel of it’s early years Would recommend to anyone to stay here and feel the experience.

Hotel was charming. However Speakeasy restaurant had closed several months ago so no in-hotel dining and only grab & go breakfast. This distracted from our planned stay.

We stayed at the historic General Francis Marion while attending a taping of Song of the Mountains at the Historic Lincoln Theatre. The hotel is beautiful! The staff are friendly and helpful. There are several restaurants within walking distance. Our Queen traditional room was spotless and very quiet.
