Perfect Location in Old San Juan

The Decanter Hotel is in a perfect location in Old San Juan, close to everything. All the staff were outstanding. They were very professional, helpful and kind. It's a beautiful historic building and inside very pretty and clean. The rooms are spacious, cool, and welcoming. The bed was very comfortable. Our only complaint is that there was a banquet venue upstairs above the open courtyard. They're was a private wedding or birthday party with DJ and microphone for guests to share stories that we could actually follow. It went on till the wee hours of the morning. We could definitely tell they were having fun and wished we were invited. We were very sleep deprived however and weren't up to it:). When the cleanup was finished around 3am, we slept like babies till 9am and actually felt refreshed. The front desk was very kind to hold our bags, so we could wander Old Sad Juan till the afternoon. Old San Juan was really stunning in the morning. All in all a good stay. My suggestion: definitely consider a stay at the Decanter for all the reasons I stated. However, ask about booked banquet events and if possible book around them, or simply ask to join the party.

Delightful boutique hotel!

We were so impressed with the Decanter hotel. We spent one day enjoying the beautiful sights of old San Juan on our return from Vieques, and the Decanter provided us with a very comfortable stay in the perfect location. We especially loved the stylish new rooftop bar overlooking the Basilica.

Unfortunately no restaurant or bar on property. It was closed; however there are more than enough restaurants and bars nearby.

Decanter Stay in Old San Juan

Hotel in great location, easy to walk to all areas of city. Room comfortable and clean (great pillows). Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Two minor issues - only 1 nightstand and light on one side of bed - moved a garbage can next to my side. Lights in bathroom aiming up so lighting was poor. Would recommend Decanter

Amazing location, easy walking distance to any Old San Juan attractions. You need to request housekeeping services, including additional coffee, water, etc. Bed is very comfortable, though our original sheets were worn and nubby. The 2nd set were great. Parking is $25 day tax or is extremely inconvenient to nonexistent. For this charming, old part of town, this hotel is fabulous!

Great location

Overall it was a very pleasant stay at the hotel. The hotel was situated literally across from the church in the heart of Old Juan. It was a very convenient location and we could walk to anywhere in Old San Juan within 10 minutes of our hotel. The staff was friendly and the room was great. The only thing that could improve was the noise. The wall was very thin and we could hear everything from our neighbor. In addition, the wood panels that separated the room from the balcony did a poor job of blocking out the noises. It felt as if we were sleeping in the open next to the street. The sound of dogs barking, motorcycles roaring, and drunk people chanting was quite annoying. We got used to it fairly quickly, and I suspect that the panel design was mandated by the historical society. So just keep that in mind if you are a light sleeper.
