The Excellence El Carmen was absolutely breathtaking. It was perfectly clean, beautiful, and relaxing. The staff and service were incredible as well. I recommend it to anyone looking for a relaxing vacation. We were very pleased with the food, rooms, entertainment, and facilities. It exceeded our expectations!

The overall property was pretty nice. It rained for 5 of the 6 days and not much to do at this resort when it rains! You can eat and drink but that gets old. The staff was friendly and helpful. The managerial staff was over bearing in regard to calling to make sure everything was ok. I spoke with hotel staff at least 20 times during our 6 day stay. The room that we book online in Dec. was not available(under renovation) so we supposedly got an "upgrade". The room itself was large and nice but viewed the back of the neighboring building with service road. The AC did not work but was fixed within a few hours. The TV died and was replaced that same day. With the upgrade we received the "Excellence Club" which did not get you much so don't waste your money. We enjoyed Secrets Mexico much more last year and most likely will return there.

This place was amazing! The facilities are all clean and modern. Although I had a pool right by my room, there were definitely a lack of the amount of public pools in the area. The food is average. There are a wide variety of restaurants and bars, but there are really only two places that I really enjoyed the food. Keep in mind it takes a WHILE for your food to come out after ordering, and the quantity that comes out is subpar. It makes you hesitate to order more because it might take another 40-45 min for a small dish to come out.
