The stat was just fine. Tea, coffee, and fruit in the morning was a bonus. The place is a little older, but comfortable and easy to feel at home.

Do not recommend

We arrived at the Emerald Bay resort. The whole place is under renovation… So we asked to see the room. The room stunk so bad we asked to see another room. The other room didn’t stink but the shower had hair in it… No ice machine, no hot water, no refrigerator. Pretty much shampoo and conditioner and soap was provided. No coffee… Would not recommend staying here. Scary neighborhood

There was no hot water the night we arrived or the morning we left There was not enough towels soap or shampoo The bathroom had no heat Heat is needed in Tahoe during the below zero temperatures There was no security bolt or lock on the room door inside There was a blind on the bedroom window but it was not sufficient to keep the light from the outside light shining into the room There was no switch to turn this light off The window blind in the kitchen was just sitting in front of the window and fell into the sink There was a lot of debris and all sorts building material and what looked like garbage lying around the property outside There was a layer of dust on both headboards and on fan on the ceiling When I spoke to the person that checked me and my kids In on the morning we were leaving about the hot water when he came to our room door he mumbled something and was not very helpful.I was so disgusted I just told him we were leaving We went skiing for the day at Homewood and the one thing I was looking forward to was a hot shower as was my kids no hot water at all a really horrible experience

Worst hotel ever!! The heater kept failing while it was extremely cold outside and inside. The hotel folks tried fixing many times and it would stop working again. This kept happening throughout evening and night. It stopped working at late night 3am and then some one came at 5am to fix, and finally gave a portable heater, which we were asking from evening. The bathroom doesn't have exhaust, and bathroom doors don't close properly. Basic things aren't working at this place.

I met the manager Myla she was very accommodating and welcoming upon our arrival she make sure we had everything we needed and helped us off the next morning with fresh coffee and some snacks I would recommend this place highly it was very clean and the beds were very very comfortable will be going back to stay there on our next visit

Not your VRBO experience

When I’m booking a VRBO I’m expecting a vacation rental type experience. This property is a run down motel and nothing more. The room smelled like cheap cleaning agent, we had exactly zero hot water and the sheets and floor were dirty. Additionally, I called before booking to ask about bringing my dogs and was told I’d be fine and that they don’t charge anything extra. Half way through the stay, the property manager requested I pay an extra $50. Total bait and switch and not what I’d expect booking through VRBO. And as you would expect with a hotel/motel, not every room looks the same and trust me, our room looked nothing like the pictures.

I've been coming to Tahoe for many years, so am well aware that many of the buildings and properties are old. I was not expecting a luxury hotel, but what I got fell short of even my lowest expectations. To start, I booked a queen and got a full size bed. They probably overbooked the queens and thought we wouldn't notice if they put us in a full. The fitted sheet had a small but noticeable blood or rust stain on it. Other things that make this place unliveable, in no particular order: bathroom has no mirror (but does have a nail in the wall where the mirror used to be), no hooks to hang anything anywhere in the room, not even the closet as it does not have a closet rod or hangers. The walls are paper thin - really glad we got to hear our neighbors talking from 11pm-5:30am (they weren't even yelling, just talking). There are no blackout curtains (just blinds) and the outdoor lights do not turn off at night, so the room never gets dark. The hot water takes a loooooong time to arrive and the water pressure is laughable. I hope there is a way for me to post photos because the photos posted here are false advertising. ABSOLUTELY DO NOT STAY HERE.
