A good nights stop over

A stop over on leaving Scotland. Had a lovely meal in the restaurant a good breakfast.

Pleasant stay

I only stayed at Foundry 34 for one night but it was just what I needed for my trip. It is located near the main bus station in Penrith. Parking was off site and because I arrived after 5pm, only had to pay for 2 hours parking to cover me from 5-6pm & 8-9am the following day at a cost of £2! I booked a single room which was cosy but comfortable; could have done with being a bit warmer but I managed. There was a note on the air con/heater unit saying there will be a penalty for anyone who messes with the control panel, so I didn’t dare touch it. The bathroom was clean and shower gel provided. The room itself was up a couple of flights of stairs and at the front of the building. Secondary double glazing has been fitted to reduce noise from the street; I wasn’t disturbed at all. There are a few places to eat nearby but I chose to reserve a table in their restaurant. This was a good decision as the food was excellent, so much so, I overindulged and went to bed with a very full stomach. It was still full by morning so I only had room for a sausage sandwich (rather than the full English). Even the humble sarnie was amazing, with a Cumberland ring sausage encased in a lovely soft bun. I’d stay there again if I need to and would definitely go there for food. I’ve recommended it to friends who live in Penrith but hadn’t heard of Foundry 34.

Good breakfast but not a great experience

We spent a night here as part of a longer break. The room was ok, however very loud noise in the bathroom which sounded like some sort of extractor from the chip shop downstairs. The noise went on until about 9pm. The room was not warm even after turning the radiator up. Also we were advised we can use the rear door to exit the hotel and when we did the smell at the door was repulsive. No idea what it was but not good. On a plus note the cooked breakfast was amazing.

They were lovely. So helpful with the bikes and sent us on our way with a delicious breakfast in the morning.

Weekend break-Sunday and Monday

The site is very nice and authentic, here are my mini gripes -drains were bad on the ground level /reception, smelly! -no gas for the beer pumps, only bottles available -finish on shower room / toilet furniture was only half completed, toilet roll holder fell off the holder, toilet seat was loose. The breakfast was the best thing about our stay.. lovely person ordering and serving the breakfast.

On arrival we were disappointed there was in fact NO free parking as stated upon booking,but only 1hrs free parking on the street (if you could find a space) with a council issued disc.Had to park in a public car park 200 metres away at a cost of £7.50!! Awful smell of drains at the rear entrance to the property.

Details on hotels.com are incorrect on 2 counts. 1 says accessible it’s not. I have a disability but all rooms were on the first floor and no lift. 2 says on site parking is available it isn’t it is situated on the roadside. (I have a blue badge so this was difficult!) Disappointing!!!

Super Stay

Taking into account the current climate, our stay was brilliant. Hotel is faultless, great standard of accom, food excellent, best breakfast quality experienced in many years! Staff very friendly and helpful. Great value for money, overall brilliant - well done and thank you all.
