Hotel itself is great, perfect location, nice breakfast, friendly staff, spacious waredrobe etc.. However, rooms lack comfort.. No fridge or kettle, but most of all, bed was hard and uncomfortable and pillows are flat like they dont exist.. On top of that parking was not included in price, so around 16 eur/night on top which is quite expensive compared to other parking lots in the area.. Wifi didnt work for me.. Accommodation quality in Europe has generally decreased a lot recently, for the price you are paying..

Room was clean and a decent size. Staff was very helpful. Location is about 10min walk from Cologne train station. Though a bit out of the way from the old town, its an easy walk. Good value.

first night in Koln

Location close enough to walk to from center of city but not very quite since it was located near police station. Sirens may interrupt sleep or awaken you. Morning brunch was clearing by 1000. Kind of early for travelers getting to bed at 2400 unless one is in PJ's for breakfast. The rooms, were clean and beds comfortable. Service was great.

Great location, wonderful breakfast and exceptionally clean, you will not go wrong by choosing the Maternushaus. The only downfall of the property was the hard beds, not very hard but harder than I am use to. I still slept well. The staff is very professional and friendly.

It is not far from the cathedral and the train station is just next to the cathedral. almost walk-able to all attractions as well. however itself is on a quiet street.

Very huge ground floor lobby. Easy to get lost as there are multiple lifts. Pay attention to your lift lobby. Many hidden corners/rooms to possibly explore. Note that the chapel is just to the right of the reception. Very clean room. Mental preparation that this is a former hospital and is operated by the Catholic church helps in enjoying the place. Staff are helpful and friendly. Pleasant breakfast. About 10 mins walk from Cologne train station.

Junior suite nr 75 was spacious, clean and comfortable. It has a balcony overlooking the gardens to the rear with a view of the Cologne Cathedral. On-street parking is available (payable by meter) but the rate offered by the hotel's own underground car park are more than reasonable. Walk from the hotel to the Cathedral took less than 10 minutes. It is situated in a quiet residential area. Breakfast offered a good selection and staff were all very polite and friendly. I would definitely recommend!

Would have preferred proper tea/coffee facilities. No drawer space and if there was more than one in room storage facilities may be stretched. lovely hotel and staff otherwise.
